After finishing in P2 at the Dutch Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton said he “gave it absolutely everything”, but Red Bull “were just too quick”.

With his P2 at the Dutch Grand Prix Lewis Hamilton lost the lead in the championship to Max Verstappen by 3 points. However, the Briton was impressed by the race and the Dutch fans.

“What a race, what a crowd,” said Hamilton.

“Honestly, it’s been an amazing weekend. Max did a great job and congratulations to him. I gave it absolutely everything today, flat-out pushed as hard as I could but they were just too quick for us.”

“I’ve had an amazing time here in Holland, thanks to the crowd, thank you so much for having us!”

Although Mercedes tried to undercut Max on two occasions, the attempts failed. The second attempt was ruined by the traffic Lewis found himself in after his pit stop.

The Briton says his rival had an easier time with the traffic today.

“I’m going to call him Noah from now on. Just every time he got traffic, they just moved out of the way.

“It was very hard to navigate through all of the traffic and it’s very hard to follow here.”

Lewis did get the extra point for fastest lap in the last lap of the race. He says it was the most enjoyable part of the race for him.

“The last lap was one of the best parts of the race for me because this track is just incredible on a single lap, low fuel.

“This is now one of my favourite tracks so I’m looking forward to coming back next year,” concluded the seven-time champion.
