Spanish racer, and current F1 Academy championship leader, Marta Garcia says she ‘identifies’ with Lewis Hamilton more than with her countryman Fernando Alonso.
Marta Garcia is currently leading the inaugural F1 Academy championship. The F1 Academy is an all-female racing championship founded by Formula 1, and is aimed at helping female racers find their way to the highest tiers of motorsport.
In a recent interview with Spanish publication Marca, she revealed she ‘identifies’ with Lewis Hamilton more than with her countryman Fernando Alonso.
“When I was a kid, I did favour Alonso,” she said.

“Because, in the end, he was the Spanish driver who was winning.
“As I grew older and became more immersed in the world of motorsport, I really liked and still do like Lewis a lot. Both on and off the track.
“I feel he has influenced me in pursuing my goals. I identify with him more.
“He’s been my reference in recent years,” Garcia concluded.
