Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto says the FIA’s decision to postpone their cost cap decision until Monday means “there are discussions and points that are not clear”.

The FIA has delayed the official results of their assessment of the 2021 financial data submitted by all Formula 1 teams until Monday.

Red Bull has been rumoured to have breached the 2021 budget cap, but team boss Christian Horner said on several occasions that his team is confident they have “complied with the cost cap”.

However, Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto says the delay means there are some contentious issues with the team’s financial submissions.

“The decision has been postponed, so there are discussions and points that are not clear,” Binotto told Sky Italia.

“The FIA is contesting, the team is defending. The important thing is that if something has been granted [by the FIA], it is transparent, so that everyone can understand the regulations well.

“There is no need to change them, even if it was the first year. I’m a bit pessimistic, it could all melt like snow in the sun.

“But clarity and transparency will be important,” the Italian concluded.
