Max Verstappen has allegedly not been allowed to drive a Mercedes AMG GT during his holiday in Portugal, due to an insurance policy stipulation.
According to The Sun (which means it should be taken with a grain of salt), Max Verstappen has not been allowed to drive a Mercedes AMG GT, that he booked from Sixt, an international mobility service provider.
The Sun reports Verstappen apparently went to Portugal with some friends, where they booked 20 cars from Sixt that they wanted to take them for a spin at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve racing circuit.
Verstappen allegedly booked a Mercedes AMG GT, but was informed that he is not allowed to drive it due to an insurance policy stipulation enforced by the company, which requires the driver to be at least 30 years old.
“Max and the group went to Portugal for a fun racing trip and had booked the cars they wanted,” a source allegedly told The Sun.

“When they got to the airport, Max was shocked when he was told he wasn’t allowed to drive the Mercedes he wanted.
“He’s a seasoned F1 driver who’s used to handling powerful cars, so it’s quite astonishing to think he wasn’t allowed to get behind the wheel of this one.
“But those are the rules, so he abided by them,” the source concluded.
Well, make of this what you will, it’s been a slow news day 🙂
