Max Verstappen has given his first reaction to Nelson Piquet, the father of his girlfriend Kelly, using a racial slur when referring to Lewis Hamilton.

Nelson Piquet has used a racial slur to describe Lewis Hamilton, while talking about the Briton’s 2021 collision with Max Verstappen at the British Grand Prix.

While many teams, drivers, and other people have reacted to this, and expressed support for Lewis, Max Verstappen and Red Bull have remained silent.

Taking into account that Piquet is the father of Max Verstappen’s girlfriend Kelly, this seems especially strange.

Well, ahead of the 2022 British Grand Prix, Sky Sports F1 asked Verstappen to give his comments on the situation.

“I think [it’s a problem] all over the world, right?” Verstappen said.

“It’s not only in Formula 1. I think it’s not correct to use these words, but I think that already starts with education nowadays from a younger age, at home, at schools…

“You need to be taught these kinds of things cannot be said or used in general. That’s what we’re working on, F1 together with Lewis, they are working on that for the future.

“All the drivers are behind that, we are all supporting that,” the Dutch driver concluded.
