After the Sao Paulo Grand Prix Sprint Race, Max Verstappen says Mercedes looks “unbeatable”, while Christian Horner says the team has “been getting closer and closer”.

At the Sao Paulo Grand Prix Sprint Race, both George Russell and Lewis Hamilton passed Max Verstappen to ultimately finish in P1 and P3 respectively.

Despite the fact that Verstappen was on medium tyres, while both Mercedes have been on softs, Russell and Hamilton’s performance was impressive.

After the race, Verstappen said the duo looked “unbeatable”.

“They look unbeatable,” the Dutch driver said.

“But I will analyse everything, and would have finished fourth anyway even with a complete front wing,” Verstappen concluded.

Red Bull team boss Christian Horner said he was not surprised by Mercedes’ performance.

“They have been heavily developing the car through the course of this season, and we seen significant steps throughout the year and they have been getting closer and closer,” the Briton said.

“George done a great job then and the soft would have been better today. We take an extra set of soft in tomorrow.

“So, what we lost today we could strategically gain back tomorrow,” Horner concluded.
