The race stewards have allowed Mercedes to put a new rear wing on Lewis Hamilton’s car ahead of Brazilian Grand Prix second free practice.

Mercedes has been allowed to change the rear wing on Lewis Hamilton’s car without any repercussions, because his original rear wing has been impounded by the stewards.

The wing was impounded because they are conducting an investigation into whether Hamilton’s DRS was exceeding the maximum distance when opened.

“We have been given written permission to replace it, as per the regulations,” a Mercedes spokesperson said.

Lewis Hamilton finished Brazilian GP second free practice in P5, while Valtteri Bottas finished in P3.

The decision on whether Mercedes has broken the rules will be made before the Sprint Qualifying Race starts.
