Mercedes denied recent rumours that their 2022 car failed the FIA’s crash tests. The team confirms the W13 “completed its FIA homologation process on 13 January 2022”.
Italian Motorsport.com recently reported that Mercedes’ 2022 car failed an FIA’s crash test. We decided not to publish this news, as it seemed completely unsubstantiated.
It turns out we were right, because Mercedes has now officially denied this report.
“W13 completed its FIA homologation process on 13 January 2022,” Mercedes’ statement read.
As BBC’s Andrew Benson reports, this included the tougher “side-squeeze test” introduced this year.
Mercedes released the same information on their social media channels.
