Mercedes has introduced several changes to their car ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, including a new circuit specific rear wing.

Mercedes has arrived to Azerbaijan with several changes done to their car. Firstly, they are among five teams who have opted to run a different, track specific rear wing.

The new rear wing has been designed to generate less drag and downforce, in order to have greater top speeds on the straights. Ferrari, McLaren, Alpine and Alfa Romeo have also made the change.

Mercedes also modified its front wing, which now has a ‘smaller chord and reduced angle of attack mid-chord flap elements’. The team explained this was done to “reduce front-wing load efficiently to meet the aero balance requirements” of the Baku track.

However, Mercedes is yet to decide if they will run this element in qualifying and the race, depending on “which rear-wing level and balance we settle on during Friday practice”.
