Mercedes provide an update on the condition of Lewis Hamilton’s car after his two accidents at the Russian Grand Prix Qualifying.

During the Russian Grand Prix Qualifying Lewis Hamilton had two accidents that could have seriously damaged his car. First he crashed into the pit entry wall, which damaged his front wing, and later he spun and hit the barrier.

The Briton talked about the possibility of damage in his post-quali statements.

“Looking at both the incidents, the pit lane one wasn’t perfect but a relatively light touch and the second one was super, super light so the second one is not an issue,” Lewis said.

“So far, they are saying it is okay so they will do all the checks tonight. Obviously, the car is built to withhold a lot of force through the corners so those little taps hopefully have not derailed us.”

Today a Mercedes spokesperson announced that the car has been checked and is now completely repaired.

“There was minor endplate damage to fix for Lewis after his brush with the barrier on his slicks lap yesterday. All else seems OK,” Mercedes announced.
