Ahead of British Grand Prix FP1, Mercedes has been summoned to the stewards for Lewis Hamilton’s alleged “disruptive” transgression.

Ahead of British Grand Prix Free Practice 1, Mercedes representatives were summoned to the stewards for Lewis Hamilton being late to the Thursday drivers’ press conference.

The team representatives explained their case, saying that Hamilton’s schedule was “extremely busy” due to media obligations for his home race, and it was “extremely difficult” for him to navigate the paddock.

The stewards rejected those arguments and said Hamilton being late was “disruptive”. Since drivers’ media duties are coordinated by the teams, the stewards decided to hand Mercedes a reprimand.

However, the verdict stated that “further penalties may be considered in case of repetition”.
