Italian media reports that a Mercedes spokesperson has dismissed recent rumours surrounding Lewis Hamilton’s contract negotiations.

Recently rumours started popping up all over the F1 media, regarding the alleged terms of Lewis Hamilton’s next Mercedes contract.

We also reported these rumours, but as always we clearly labelled them as such and highlighted the fact that they were completely unsubstantiated.

The rumours started with French outlet Sportune, and now Italian website Formu1a.uno reports that they reached out to Mercedes and received a statement from the team’s spokesperson.

“Obviously, the winter doesn’t stop the rumour mill, and it’s been entertaining to read speculation about contract discussions when they haven’t yet begun,” the statement reportedly read.

“The rumors seem to have started on a French blog, Sportune, with which we don’t have a relationship, and are pretty wild in terms of what they suggest.

“Toto stated on record last Friday that discussions haven’t yet begun, and that’s exactly the situation”, the German racing team’s spokesman is quoted,” the statement concluded.

We will continue to keep you updated on this situation and, as always, clearly label rumours as such.
