Mercedes announced it will keep its UK-based F1 factories in Brackley and Brixworth open “at this time”, amid the coronavirus outbreak.
After the Australian Grand Prix was cancelled because of the worldwide coronavirus pandemic, all F1 personnel that was present at the track has undergone a 14-day precautionary self-isolation period.
Ferrari has gone a step further and closed down its F1 and road car factories in Italy until the end of March. However, Mercedes says it will not be stopping its UK-based F1 operation for the time being.
“Our factories remain open at this time, in line with UK government advice,” said a Mercedes spokesperson.
“We have had no cases so far in either facility. Team members returning from Australia will be isolating for 14 days to minimise any risk of infection.”
