The New York Times has selected Lewis Hamilton as one of the ‘93 most stylish people of the year’, and used the opportunity to poke fun at the FIA.

Lewis Hamilton, whose love of fashion is well known in the Formula 1 paddock, has been named as one of the world’s most styling people in the New York Times’ ‘93 most stylish people of the year’ list.

While introducing the Briton, the publication wrote:

“It was a bad year for the British Formula 1 driver on the track.

“But he was far more successful when it came to getting dressed, wearing Valentino pink suiting on the cover of Vanity Fair’s September issue, Kenzo and Versace knits in the pit lane and, to the chagrin of the sport’s governing body, lots (and lots) of bling,” the New York Times concluded.

The last part of the sentence is obviously aimed at the FIA’s jewellery ban and their low-key feud with Lewis over his piercings.

Other sportspeople on the list are tennis legend Serena Williams, basketball coach Sydney Carter, ex-Arsenal footballer Hector Bellerin, NFL quarterback Joe Burrows and NBA superstars LeBron James and Steph Curry.
