2016 F1 champion Nico Rosberg says he “saw a lot of hope” from Mercedes at the Spanish Grand Prix, and adds “maybe they can really challenge” Red Bull “at some point”.
After Mercedes’ great performance at the Spanish Grand Prix, 2016 F1 champion Nico Rosberg said he believes the future is bright for his former team.
“I saw a lot of hope today because when Lewis got through he was five seconds behind Max,” the German said.
“Then he was cruising at the end, OK Max was maybe a bit as well, but it wasn’t that big. Mercedes were pretty quick.

“For Mercedes it’s only the beginning. They are at the very beginning of this completely new concept of a car. So there’s much more potential there.
“Who knows, maybe they can really challenge [Red Bull] at some point,” Rosberg concluded.
