Sports brand Puma has added another world title to Lewis Hamilton‘s impressive tally, obviously calculating in the unjustly lost 2021 title.

Lewis Hamilton lost the 2021 Formula 1 title to Max Verstappen in a highly controversial finish to the final race of the season – the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

In the final moments of that race, Michael Masi – the race director at the time, had broken several rules and protocols that governing the use of the Safety Car, which ultimately allowed Verstappen, who had fresher tyres, to easily overtake Hamilton in the final lap of the race.

The controversial ending was the subject on an FIA inquiry, which determined that rules had not been followed, and that Masi made mistakes.

Masi was removed from the position of race director even before the FIA released their findings, however, the outcome of the championship was allowed to stand.

Many, however, still consider Lewis Hamilton to be the rightful 2021 champion, as had the rules been followed, he would have dominantly won the race and the championship.

It appears Mercedes’ sponsor Puma is one of those who believe the title was stolen from the Briton, at least if their advertisement, spotted in a Puma store in the Czech Republic, is anything to go by.

The poster promoting Puma’s Mercedes merchandise, which features an image of Lewis, bills him as an  “8-time FIA Formula One Drivers’ Champion”.

While it could be just a mistake, there’s no doubt that many Formula 1 fans, some of which are prominent public figures, consider Lewis to be the rightful 2021 champion.
