Red Bull snatches another high-level Mercedes HPP employee

Red Bull has signed another Mercedes engineer for their engine factory, this time Head of Performance & Controls Owen Jones.

Red Bull has already signed several of Mercedes’ employees for their new Red Bull Powertrains engine factory.

Ben Hodgkinson, Head of Mechanical Engineering at Mercedes High Performance Powertrains, has already been signed to become the technical director of their new operation, and now, according to RacingNews365.com, they have signed another high-level HPP employee – Head of Performance & Controls Owen Jones.

Jones has been working closely with former Mercedes HPP boss Andy Cowell, who has recently left the team and Formula 1. Jones’ role at Red Bull is yet to be confirmed.

RacingNews365.com also reports that a source within Mercedes said that Jones has been “on a path to retirement from Mercedes HPP for some time”.
