The announcement comes hours after the whole F1 world went into an uproar over three-time champion Nelson Piquet’s use of a racial slur when referring to Lewis Hamilton, during his analysis of the Briton’s collision with Max Verstappen at the 2021 British Grand Prix.
Considering Piquet is the father of Verstappen’s girlfriend Kelly, it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for Red Bull to join other F1 teams and personalities in condemning his words, but journalist Chris Medland learned the Austrian outfit did not intend to comment on the issue.
However, in light of the current situation, the timing for Vips’ release does not seem to be completely random.
