Red Bull’s advisor Dr Helmut Marko reportedly confirmed that his team is ready to lodge an official protest if Mercedes uses DAS in Melbourne.

The controversy over the use of Mercedes’ innovative Dual Axis Steering system continues to rage on. According to Germany’s Auto Bild, Red Bull is preparing to protest its use at the Australian Grand Prix.

“From our perspective, the system does not comply with the rules,” said Dr Helmut Marko.

“So we will protest when Mercedes uses the system in Melbourne.”

While speaking to Auto Motor und Sport Marko added: “Our lawyers are checking whether the DAS system is legal.”

Auto Motor und Sport also reports that Mercedes had to alter the design of its rear brake ducts on the W11 due to a complaint from Red Bull, but this information has not been confirmed by any of the prominent motorsport news outlets.
