Michael Schumacher’s former Ferrari team-mate Rubens Barrichello says he believes Lewis Hamilton is a better driver than the great German.

Barrichello drove alongside Schumacher at Ferrari from 2000 until 2005. Having raced against Hamilton from 2007 until 2011, the Brazilian is a good person to ask to compare the two drivers.

“Hamilton better than Schumacher? I think so,” Barrichello told Soymotor.

“I competed with both but was only there in the early years of Hamilton, but I think so.”

This is not the first time the Brazilian strongly praised Lewis. Earlier this year he said the Briton could possibly be more talented than Schumacher and Rubens’ countryman and friend Ayrton Senna.

“Hamilton has a talent that is possibly even greater than Ayrton’s and Schumacher’s,” said Rubens.

“The only thing he lacked was maturity. He’s been progressing and today you see the end product.

“Listening to the team radio at the [2019] Brazil Grand Prix, he is incredibly calm, passing on information, saying what he needs and doesn’t need.

“The perfect driver would have Ayrton’s skill, Schumacher’s courage and Hamilton’s coordination. It would be a show to watch!”
