RUMOUR: Hamilton splits with long-time right-hand man Marc Hynes

The Daily Mail reports that Lewis Hamilton and the chief executive of his ‘Project 44’ management company have decided to go their separate ways.

According to the Daily Mail, the split was “amicable”. Hynes, a former British F3 champion, has been a part of Lewis Hamilton’s inner circle since 2014. In his role as chief executive of the ‘Project 44’ management company he took care of Lewis’ business interests and logistics. He joined Hamilton’s group after the Briton split with Simon Fuller’s XIX management company, but he has been a long-time friend.

The Daily Mail reports that Hynes’ role was discussed during the Formula 1 winter break, and both parties decided to go their separate ways. Hynes was reportedly not involved in Hamilton’s 2021 contract negotiations with Mercedes.

Hynes was also expected to oversee Lewis Hamilton’s X44 Extreme E team, but if the story is true, this will obviously change.

The Daily Mail quotes “a source” as saying:

“Marc has left Project 44 to pursue other opportunities within motorsports and Lewis wishes him well knowing that he will be as valuable to his next challenge, as he was to P44.

“Lewis is very grateful for all his support over the last five years, both personally and in helping him build his company.

“During that time Lewis won four world championships and broke numerous records, and Marc was part of and shared in that success.

“Marc and Lewis have known each other since they were young, as friends first and business partners second, so, while they are parting ways in a business sense, they remain close friends.”
