After signing a new Mercedes contract, George Russell was jokingly asked if his salary was the same as Lewis Hamilton’s.

George Russell and Lewis Hamilton have both signed a new Mercedes contract and they will both be staying with the team until at least the end of 2025.

It has been reported that Lewis will be earning $63 million per season, a $10 million raise from his previous contract, although this has not been officially confirmed.

Nothing has been said of George’s salary, who is believed to be on an $8 million per season contract currently.

Well, George’s friend Alex Albon asked the young Briton if his salary was “good”.

George responded by saying “it’s fair”, and continued:

“Toto said if we both walk away a little bit disappointed then I think that’s fair.

“But he probably had a small disappointed face on, but when I closed the door he was probably smiling,” George joked.

Sky Sports F1 presented Craig Slater asked George if his salary was “the same as Lewis’”, and he jokingly responded with: “Maybe a few less zeros.”
