George Russell comments on his tussle with his team-mate Lewis Hamilton at the start of the Mexican Grand Prix.

At the start of the Mexican Grand Prix, George Russell had a small tussle with Lewis Hamilton, which saw the young Briton go wide and drop from P2 to P4.

George says he would have handled this situation differently if he was not fighting his team-mate.

“I think the last probably four races for me have been pretty scrappy and going into Turn 1,” Russell said.

“I knew I wouldn’t have been able to overtake Max on the outside.

“And then when I had Lewis there, probably if it was anyone else but my teammate, I would have just run them off the road.”

Ultimately, George said he believes Mercedes was the fastest car in Mexico.

“We’ve shown between these two race weekends quite a fluctuation in performance. [At the Unided States Grand Prix] in Austin, we were a step behind.

“I felt like we probably had the fastest car this weekend, and had we been on the same strategy as Red Bull, we probably could have fought with them,” Russell concluded.
