Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali says “there was total respect” for Lewis Hamilton’s “choice to be in silent mode”, and adds the Briton is “an incredible asset, not only for our sport, but for the world”.
Last Saturday Lewis Hamilton announced his return to social media after a long period of silence due to the controversial finish of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Now that the Briton is back in the public eye, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali doesn’t hide his delight.
“Oh, yeah, for what I know and what I see…,” Domenicali told Sky Sports F1.
“I saw the last picture of Lewis with positivity in his face and in his gesture.
“I think that is important because Lewis is an incredible asset, not only for our sport, but for the world.
“There was total respect [for] his choice to be in silent mode.”

The Italian adds he believes Lewis will be driven by a desire to cement his place as the most successful F1 driver of all time.
“Lewis has in front of him a possibility to be an eight-time World Champion. I’m pretty sure he is totally focused on these objectives.
“Because this year there will be so many new things, so many new variables, and that will allow this championship to be so attractive.
“I’m sure he is totally dedicated to make sure that he can really have his chance to be an eight-time World Champion,” Domenicali concluded.
