The FIA is investigating Toto and Susie Wolff for a potential conflict of interest

After a small break, we are back and right in time for another controversy – Toto and Susie Wolff are apparently being investigated for a potential conflict of interest!

A report from BusinessF1 magazine has suggested that a comment made by Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff in a recent team principal meeting, has allegedly prompted certain team principals to complain that he might be privy to confidential information that could only come from Formula One Management (FOM).

The suggestion is that his wife Susie Wolff, who has been appointed as managing director of the all-female F1 Academy earlier this year, is able to disclose information about confidential discussions between team principals to FOM, while she can also supply her husband with info coming from FOM, which is not available to other team bosses.

It is understood that FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem has lobbied for the FIA to open an official investigation regarding a potential conflict of interest.

The FIA then came out with a statement saying they are looking into the matter, but they never mentioned the Wolffs by name.

“The FIA is aware of media speculation centred on the allegation of information of a confidential nature being passed to an F1 team principal from a member of FOM personnel,” the statement read.

“The FIA Compliance Department is looking into the matter,” the governing organization concluded.

The allegations have since been denied by Formula 1, the Mercedes F1 Team, and Susie Wolff herself. We will cover their statements in more detail in subsequent articles.
