Former F1 driver Timo Glock and Sky Germany commentator Sascha Roos criticised the FIA for their decisions in the final laps of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The controversial ending of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix saw the FIA break their own Safety Car rules and basically gift Max Verstappen his world championship.

Immediately after the race Timo Glock was of the same opinion.

“It seems as if the FIA doesn’t know its own rules,” Glock said on Sky Germany.

“Of course, this is also a moment of pressure for the FIA, for the stewards, to make the decision.

“But they also have to know what the rules are like and what they are. You have to decide at the moment.

“Apparently they didn’t have the rules at hand at the moment, they didn’t have the whole picture ready and then mistakes may have been made.”

Sky Germany commentator Sascha Roos was even harsher in his comments on the situation.

“It’s not nice and not what the Formula 1 fans deserve. It’s not what motorsport deserves,” Roos said.

“Above all, it is also not a good picture when it comes to the rules and regulations of the FIA. That’s what I denounce a bit.

“Making such decisions – one in one direction, one in the other direction, then you realize: ‘Oh, that would actually not have been compliant with the rules’.

“That’s one thing that you have to blame the FIA for,” concluded the German.
