Toto Wolff says Fernando Alonso’s comments in which he tried to devalue Lewis Hamilton’s world titles, constitute the Spaniards’ attempts at “comedy”.

Fernando Alonso recently awkwardly tried to diminish the value to Lewis Hamilton‘s seven world titles.

Lewis then answered him with a photo from the 2007 US Grand Prix, where a rookie Lewis finished in P1, ahead of his team-mate, two-time world champion Alonso in P2, along with a thumbs up emoji.

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff now jokingly says Alonso’s comments are an attempt at “comedy”.

“He’s a teaser,” the Austrian said tongue in cheek.

“Comedy. It creates headlines and the sport is about headlines. They are great champions and Alonso likes to throw one in.

“I don’t think it is bothering Lewis a millimetre,” Wolff concluded.
