During the Spanish Grand Prix Valtteri Bottas complained that it was hot in the car beacuse of black overalls. Toto Wolff doesn’t agree the color is the problem.
At one point during the Spanish Grand Prix Valtteri Bottas complained to his team over the radio, saying “these black overalls are f**king hot”. He later explained what he meant in more detail. However Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff‘s doesn’t think the color of the overalls is the problem.
“We’re just using new materials,” said the Austrian.
“Maybe we should look at them again and find a compromise that will allow us to make them a little thinner.”
Mercedes decided to switch to a black livery and black overalls in 2020 to demonstrate their support for the fight against racism. However, Wolff says the team would not allow this to affect their performance on the track.
“The message is very important, but if it compromises our performance, it’s obviously not good,” Wolff concluded.
