After struggling in Bahrain, Toto Wolff says Mercedes could have “much better pace” at a “front-limited track” like the one in Saudi Arabia.

After struggling at the Bahrain Grand Prix, Mercedes is more optimistic when it comes to their performance at the next race in Saudi Arabia.

The track surface on the Bahrain International Circuit is very abrasive and therefore hard on tyres, while the heavy braking and acceleration zones make it a ‘rear-limited’ circuit.

On the other hand, the Jeddah Corniche Circuit is a ‘front-limited’ circuit, which Toto Wolff believes will suit the W14 a lot better.

“The last time that I dreamt about miracles was a long time ago,” Wolff said.

“That track [in Bahrain] is very rear-limited, it has a very abrasive asphalt, and that is probably the weakest point in our car.

“If you look at it from that perspective, maybe it gets better [in Saudi Arabia].

“I certainly think when it comes down to front-limited track, we will [have] much better pace.”
