Mercedes team boss has Toto Wolff provided an update on Lewis Hamilton‘s condition after the Briton tested positive for COVID-19 and had to miss the Sakhir Grand Prix.

Lewis was replaced by George Russell who drove an amazing race, but lost out on a possible win due to a combination of Mercedes’ mistakes and bad luck.

However it is not certain yet if Lewis Hamilton will be cleared to return in time for the final race of the season – the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, or if Russell will get another chance in a Mercedes.

After the Sakhir Grand Prix Toto Wolff provided an update on Lewis’ condition.

“I think we need to see how well Lewis recovers,” said the Austrian.

“That’s the most important that he’s well and he says he’s a bit better today, he’s made a big step.

Talking about the seven-time champ’s possible return in Abu Dhabi, Wolff said:

“If the test is negative, it’s his car, and then I am sure he will drive a brilliant race. Then if the test in Abu Dhabi is positive then George is in the car.”
