Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff says Mercedes is still “ambitious” despite setting major Formula 1 records in the last seven years.

Mercedes has become one of the most successful Formula 1 teams in the history since they returned to the sport in 2010.

Toto Wolff says the team is still motivated, despite setting all major records.

“We have nothing more to prove after the seven years,” the Austrian told Sky Sports.

“We’ve set our records and we want to add to them, because we are ambitious and we hate losing. But we may as well enjoy that, because we have the best job in the world.”

However, the 2021 season is the biggest challenge for the team since their domination started in 2014, mostly due to changes in the aerodynamic regulations that obviously favour Red Bull’s design philosophy.

“It’s been seven years that we have been able to set the benchmark, this year it’s much tougher, we know why,” continued Wolff.

“In the same way, we enjoy the fight. It comes with a certain easiness and I think that is advantageous in our situation. We have two strong drivers.

“I’m really looking forward for the next races. It doesn’t feel at all difficult or painful. Things will happen as they need to happen.

“But it’s good fun,” concluded Mercedes’ team boss.
