Lewis Hamilton is yet to sign a new deal with Mercedes. The F1 rumour mill likes to bring up George Russell as his possible replacement, but Valtteri Bottas doesn’t care.

It is looking extremely likely that Lewis Hamilton is on the verge of signing a new deal with Mercedes that would take him through 2021 and, possibly, beyond.

The media likes to speculate that, if Lewis and Mercedes can’t come to an agreement, Williams’ George Russell could be brought in as his replacement. One thing is for certain, Valtteri Bottas already has a contract for 2021, and he doesn’t care either way.

“I do not care,” Bottas told Pelicans TV.

“All Formula 1 drivers are good, so whoever gets it it will be tough. For now I can focus better on myself.”

And what the Finn will undoubtedly be focusing on is winning his first drivers’ title.

“Obviously I have only one goal. As a team we have been performing at the top for years now and we have won the Constructors’ Championship.

“My team-mate has been beating me for years now, so my only goal is to beat him. I am focused only on myself.

“If I do that and keep developing myself, it will be a good season,” concluded Bottas.
