At the Austrian Grand Prix Valtteri Bottas managed to salvage some points for Mercedes, despite a big gap to Red Bull “in terms of pace”.
Valtteri Bottas spent the first part of the race behind team-mate Lewis Hamilton, however, when the Briton’s car sustained some damage, he was able to get to P2.
In the final laps of the race, the Finn felt some pressure from third placed Lando Norris, but he held onto the second step on the podium.
“For me, it was one place better than last weekend where I started from fifth,” Bottas said after the race.

“We got some decent points considering the gap we had to Red Bull in terms of pace. It’s nice to be on the podium in second place. It’s the maximum we could get.
“The McLaren was surprisingly fast. They put a lot of pressure on. In two weeks we go to Silverstone, there’s still work to do.
“But for now I’m going to enjoy the champagne,” concluded the Finn.
