After the controversial (and now disputed) ending of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Valtteri Bottas says he feels “gutted” for Lewis Hamilton.
The controversial (and now disputed) end of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix saw Max Verstappen basically being gifted a victory and the world title by some questionable manoeuvring by the FIA with the Safety Car. Mercedes has since lodged two protests over this.
Immediately after the race, before getting the chance to talk to the team, Valtteri Bottas gave his first comments on the race and on what just transpired.
“I haven’t seen anyone yet, but I can feel it,” the Finn said.

“We wanted both titles. Getting constructors again is huge. But at the same time, it hurts because Lewis didn’t get the drivers.
“I feel like I lost the championship because he lost it. I really feel gutted for him, I feel he deserved it today.
“Then things change, that’s sport. Sometimes it goes against and sometimes it goes for you, today was not our day.
“I am sure they make decisions for safety. If there was a car sideways, normally you need a safety car.
“Just unlucky,” concluded Bottas.
