Valtteri Bottas reveals how his girlfriend, Australian professional cyclist Tiffany Cromwell, helps him stay motivated after bad races.
Bottas’ relationship with Cromwell became public in February 2020, right after the Finnish driver split from his wife, Olympic swimmer Emilia Pikkarainen. The pair now lives in their apartment in Monaco, where Cromwell found a way to keep Valtteri motivated even when he suffers a defeat.
“One thing was pretty impressive – Tiff hung pictures of my victories in our apartment in Monaco,” Bottas told Bild am Sonntag.
“I never wanted driving pictures hanging on my wall because I thought it was self-expression. But she said to me ‘when you look at them, remember what you are capable of’.
“When I come home after a bad race and look at the pictures the next morning I think ‘ah yes, I won that’.”

Cromwell can be seen at most races and the duo has been spotted cycling around Formula 1 circuits. The pro cyclist is a former winner of the women’s Giro d’Italia, so she knows a thing or two about sports motivation.
“I don’t know what Lewis might do differently than Valtteri,” Cromwell explained.
“I can only highlight the positive things over and over again and remind him of what he’s capable of and that it doesn’t depend so much on what Lewis is doing.”
