Max Verstappen is a bit critical of Lewis Hamilton’s Chelsea F.C. takeover bid, and says he “would want to be the full owner” and “not own just a tiny percentage”.

Today news came out that Lewis Hamilton and tennis star Serena Williams have pledged an estimated £10m each to former Liverpool and British Airways chairman Sir Martin Broughton’s takeover offer for Roman Abramovich’s Chelsea Football Club.

If the bid is successful Lewis would be a part owner of the legendary football club and, according to Sky Sports F1, would “play a formal role in Chelsea’s future efforts to promote diversity, equity and inclusion”.

The PA news agency asked Max Verstappen to comment on this news, and the Dutchman immediately said he was puzzled that Lewis, a fan of Arsenal, would buy into one of the club’s biggest rivals.

“I am a PSV fan and I would never buy Ajax,” Verstappen said.

“And if I was going to buy a football club, I would want to be the full owner and to take the decisions myself, not own just a tiny percentage.

“I thought he was an Arsenal fan? And if you are an Arsenal fan going for Chelsea, that is quite interesting.

“But everyone does what they want with their money, so let’s see what comes out of it,” the Dutch driver concluded.
