Max Verstappen says Red Bull’s 2021 cost cap breach penalty will affect the team, but they have “a lot of great ideas” for next year already.
As a result of Red Bull’s 2021 cost cap breach the FIA has handed the team a $7m fine, and its wind tunnel and CFD testing time for 2022 has been reduced by 10%.
While many are saying the team got off lightly, Red Bull is insisting that it is a harsh penalty. Ahead of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, Max Verstappen was asked how much he thinks the penalty will affect the team.
“It will affect us but how much? I don’t know yet,” the Dutch driver said.

“But I’m confident that the team and the people we have can use that as extra motivation to try and do even better.
“I know, of course, they always give their best, but we have a very competitive car, we have a lot of great ideas, I think already for next year as well with the car.
“And hopefully it’s going to be enough,” Verstappen concluded.
