Verstappen says burning of Hamilton merchandise is “just disgusting”

Max Verstappen has blasted fans who were burning Lewis Hamilton merchandise at the Hungaroring, and said their behaviour was “just disgusting”.

Ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix, videos emerged showing what appear to be Max Verstappen fans burning Lewis Hamilton merchandise at the track.

This came after numerous reports of horrendous racist, homophobic and sexist abuse aimed at mostly Hamilton fans, emerged at the Austrian Grand Prix.

After the race in Hungary, Max Verstappen gave his comments on fans burning Hamilton merchandise.

“That is of course, not acceptable,” the Dutch driver said.

“These individuals, I definitely don’t agree with that because that is just disgusting.

“But overall, I think the majority of the fans were cheering a lot throughout the race and also on the podium for every driver. I think that is how it should be.

“And those videos of burning merchandise are disgusting,” Verstappen concluded.
