Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel reveal their “friendship got better” after a particular on-track collision that could have ended badly.

At the 2017 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel drove into the side of Lewis Hamilton’s car, ahead of a Safety Car restart, after he complained that Lewis had brake tested him.

For this, the German received a 10-second stop-and-go penalty, and Lewis’ race was ruined after he had to make an unscheduled pit stop, due to his headrest coming loose.

After the race, it was revealed that Lewis did not brake test Vettel.

While the two drivers were seated next to each other at a press conference, they revealed the unfortunate incident made their friendship stronger.

“Actually, I think from that moment onwards…,” Vettel began.

“…our friendship got better,” Hamilton interjected.

“Yeah, a lot better,” Seb confirmed.

“So, I don’t want that to not happen, if you see what I mean,” he concluded.

Ultimately, in the race, Vettel finished in P4, while Lewis finished behind him in P5.
