Mercedes has finally been able to remove Valtteri Bottas‘ front-right wheel that let to his retirement from the Monaco Grand Prix.
The team was unable to remove the wheel during Bottas’ pit stop at the Monaco Grand Prix, due to a wheel nut issue. More precisely, the wheel gun was applied at an angle, which led to the driving faces of the wheel nut being chipped away, making it completely round.
Not even Ferrari could help the team remove the wheel after the race, so it had to be brought back to Mercedes’ factory in Brackley, with the tyre still attached.
Well, now Mercedes reveals they have been able to finally remove the wheel, with the help of some “heavy equipment”. Here’s how they did it!
