Toto Wolff is absent from Qatar, but he reveals how he will congratulate Red Bull, if Max Verstappen wins the 2023 drivers’ title this weekend.
It is very likely that Max Verstappen will win the 2023 Drivers’ Championship at today’s Qatar Grand Prix Sprint Race, as he only needs a P6 finish.
Since Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff is absent from Qatar, because of his knee operation recovery, OE24 asked him if he will still congratulate Red Bull and his countryman Dr Helmut Marko.
“I will congratulate them via WhatsApp,” the Austrian said.

“Despite all the rivalry, you have to remain a fair sportsman. The car, the team, the driver – they are the benchmark, you can only congratulate them.”
Asked about Marko’s comments on Sergio Perez’s ethnicity, which garnered a lot of criticism, Toto said:
“Such statements are crazy in our time. These cannot be excused by his age.
“But I think he learned his lesson,” Wolff concluded.
