Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff talks about the challenges the first two races of the 2020 season at the Red Bull Ring will present for his team.

The 2020 season will finally start in July with a double-header at the Red Bull Ring. The Austrian Grand Prix was won by Max Verstappen for the past 2 years, while Mercedes struggled a bit in 2019, suffering cooling problems and finishing in P3 and P5.

Toto Wolff admits starting the season in his home country of Austria is not ideal for Mercedes.

“We weren’t prepared for the high temperatures last year,” said Wolff.

“I have no idea how that will develop this year, but the altitude is not to our advantage. Reliability will be the key.

“We have not been able to test and we will have to use the three free practice sessions to get to know the car.”

The Austrian also reveals Mercedes will be introducing upgrades for its 2020 car sometime in the summer.

“We have upgrades planned for the summer, but we won’t have much time to drive them and understand them.”
