Toto Wolff praises Ferrari for finding additional power, but also says Mercedes “found the improvements that we believe can be done on the E10”.

Since the first race of the 2022 season, there has been a lot of talk about the obvious increase in Ferrari’s engine power.

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff praises the Italian team for what they apparently managed to achieve.

“I think we’ve seen a massive jump from Ferrari from last year to this one,” Wolff told Sky Sports F1.

“[They went] from probably 10kw down to 10kw up, and that is something we have never achieved in the past. But, if that happened, all credit to them.”

Mercedes, however, seems to have lost some power, which some observers have attributed to the new E10 fuel that was introduced in 2022.

However, Wolff says Mercedes’ engine team has found ways to improve performance on the E10.

“We have found the improvements that we believe can be done on the E10. The team in Brixworth is doing a good job.

“I think, at the moment, the drag to performance picture isn’t giving them enough credit,” the Austrian concluded.
