Mercedes recently announced the company decided to increase its stake in Aston Martin. Toto Wolff says the two racing teams won’t be impacted.

The deal won’t only increase Mercedes’ stake in the British manufacturer, but also include transfer of technology. Since Racing Point will be rebranded as Aston Martin in 2021, and continue using Mercedes engines, it’s natural that people are wondering how connected the two racing teams will be.

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff says the two won’t impact the two racing operations.

“No, not for the time being,” said Wolff.

“The Formula 1 team, the Aston Martin Formula 1 team is completely independent from Aston Martin cars.

“Obviously the shareholding in Daimler is something that was decided purely based on the merit of the auto companies and not the racing side,” concluded the Austrian.
