Sergio Perez posts and deletes awkward video amid cost cap scandal

Amid Red Bull’s cost cap scandal, Sergio Perez tweeted out, and promptly deleted, a video that some have called out for being ‘in poor taste’.

After the FIA announced that Red Bull has been found guilty of a ‘minor’ breach of the 2021 budget cap, Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf reported a rumour that the team overspent on sick leave and catering fees.

More precisely, they noted that the breach happened due to Red Bull seving free lunch to 1,000 members of their staff every day.

A day after this rumour came out, Sergio Perez tweeted out a video commercial for Red Bull’s sponsor Cash App, which showed Perez and the team’s mechanics eating and having fun at a restaurant… and paying for it with Cash App.

Naturally, fans quickly called out the ill timing of such a video, and Perez promptly deleted it. However, some fans have preserved the video for posterity 🙂
