While presenting Lewis Hamilton with honorary Brazilian citizenship, President of the Chamber of Deputies Arthur Lira called him an eight-time world champion.

Ahead of the 2022 Sao Paulo Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton officially received honorary citizenship of Brazil in a special ceremony held at Brazil’s Congress chamber.

In his speech, President of the Chamber of Deputies Arthur Lira said:

“Lewis is a collector of titles, a seven-time Formula 1 world champion!”

This prompted someone from the crowd to shout he is an eight-time champion, referencing the controversial finish of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Lira then said: “Or is it eight? Octa champion!”

He also jokingly added that “someone from the staff will pay for it”, in reference to Red Bull’s recent boycott of Sky Sports, due to Ted Kravitz saying Lewis was “robbed”.

While this was going on, Lewis was smiling and winking. You can watch the video below.
