Lewis Hamilton has invited three young karting drivers as his guests at the British Grand Prix, as part of his quest to “ensure the future of motorsport is more diverse than the present”.

Lewis Hamilton has invited 11-year-old Cordell and Miles, and 12-year-old Joshua as his guests at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix.

Lewis released a video with the young karting drivers introducing themselves, along with a message thanking them for agreeing to join him at the track.

“This year I invited these three talented drivers to Silverstone,” Lewis wrote.

“It’s so important to pay that forward, support young talent and work to ensure the future of motorsport is more diverse than the present.

“Joshua, Miles and Cordell thank you, I’m proud of all of you,” the Briton concluded.

In the video the boys talked about their racing journey so far.

“One of my favourite dreams is to become a Formula 1 driver,” said Cordell.

“When I was a baby I enjoyed Formula 1 and when I turned six my dad got me into racing.

“I’m currently karting and I do three championships. One being at Buckmore, one being at Rye House and one being at Club 100,” he concluded.

Miles said:

“It all started in 2019. My first time was at Buckmore, tried it out and came seventh. It was a good start. I’ve won more than 60 trophies.

“When I first started karting I’d been watching a bit of F1. I’d seen how they drive and I wanted to be like them one day,” he concluded.

Joshua said he already had 40 trophies in his collection.

“Last year I got the [lap] record at Rye House, a 41.64,” the young driver said.

“I started driving at nine years old. I went for a play date and there was a club going on, a six-week course, and so I started that, finished the six-week course, found a team and started from there.”

“My motto is ‘always forward’,” Joshua concluded.
