After Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen’s collision at the Hungarian Grand Prix, Lewis made the first move to “break the ice” between them.
While fighting for P3 at the Hungarian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen were involved in a collision.
More specifically, while trying to pass Lewis at Turn 1, Max braked too deep and his rear tyre collided with Lewis’ front, which sent the Red Bull flying out of the track.
Max was able to return to the track, but he dropped back down the order and ultimately finished the race in P5.
The stewards immediately announced an investigation into the collision, and later summoned both drivers.
Ultimately they decided that “no driver was predominantly to blame”, so they will not be taking any further action.
After the race, while Max was talking to the media, Lewis approached him and they shook hands, before Max said they will “talk later”.

When asked by journalists what was said between them, Lewis explained he just wanted to ‘break the ice’.
“Nothing really [was said],” the Briton said.
“I mean, I just broke the ice. Rather than walk past him, I thought it was the respectful thing.
“I have no problems, I think it was a racing incident. He sent it down the inside, it didn’t work out.
“And we move on,” he concluded.
