Lewis Hamilton says he’s “always trying to rely on my driving ability to make up for the deficit, but it’s not been ultimately enough in a lot of places”.

Red Bull’s complete domination of Formula 1 is the main story of the first half of the 2023 season.

The Austrian team’s car is obviously so much faster than everyone else’s, that races are not even a competition at the moment.

Lewis Hamilton relayed this same sentiment after the Belgian Grand Prix.

“I’m always trying to rely on my driving ability to make up for the deficit, but it’s not been ultimately enough in a lot of places,” the Briton said.

“If you look at the race in Silverstone, you may not have seen it, but we were equal in time until Turn 13 to Max on a qualifying lap.

“Then we just lost the performance and speed after that,” he concluded.

While many observers have suggested that the FIA step in to ‘slow down’ the Austrian team.

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff has been adamant that he doesn’t want this to happen, as he believes other teams just need to beat Red Bull on merit.
