Eight-time World Rally Championship champion Sébastien Ogier says there’s no doubt that Lewis Hamilton was “robbed” at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
In the last lap of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Lewis Hamilton lost what seemed like a certain title win, due to FIA race director Michael Masi not following the rules and protocols of the Safety Car. His decisions are now a subject of an FIA investigation.
Many current and former drivers have since openly talked about the injustice that had happened, and now one of the most successful World Rally Championship drivers of all time, Sébastien Ogier, says Lewis was “robbed”.
“I think he will come back,” the Frenchman said on the Super Moscato Show, when asked if he believes Hamilton will return to Formula 1 in 2022.

Ogier then went on to describe what happened.
“Lewis dominates the race, he is in front until the end. And, unfortunately for him, a few laps from the finish, there is this famous Safety Car.
“Either one of them [Hamilton or Verstappen], they would have been wonderful champions, but looking at that weekend – it’s theft.
“And it’s hard to swallow for Hamilton,” Ogier concluded.
